Here at AppFolio, one of our valued benefits is providing eight hours of Volunteer Time Off (VTO) annually, inspiring employees to give back to a cause they care about. Why do we do this? Because AppFolians are passionate about giving back to their local communities and making a positive impact through volunteer service. 

While our commitment to making things better for people and our planet starts at the top, much of our community connection is driven by our employee-led Give Back Committee, whose mission is to be the bridge that links employees with each other and with our communities through various volunteering and fundraising activities. Once a year, our efforts culminate with AppFolio Gives Back, a month-long company-wide tradition where AppFolians across our business take time to give back to causes we care about, connect with our communities, and collaborate with others.

This year for AppFolio Gives Back, we supported a trio of organizations – Storyteller Children’s Center (Santa Barbara), Stuff the Bus (San Diego), and Hope Supply Co. (Dallas) – that serve critical missions to help children experiencing poverty and homelessness gain access to school supplies in time for the new school year. 

When it comes to fundraising, AppFolians are known for their creativity and this year’s AppFolio Gives Back event was no exception, with employees organizing art auctions, trivia contests, magic-grams, and more. Through these fundraisers we were able to purchase more than 150 sets of backpacks and school supplies, which employees came together across our campuses to assemble over three days.

We also hosted virtual volunteer opportunities for team members during AppFolio Gives Back, partnering with Braven, a non-profit pairing business professionals with promising, underrepresented young people for 1:1 mentoring and networking sessions.
